Frequently Asked Questions
Are appointments online or in person?
Hormone Balance Centers provides telehealth care for eligible patients in Utah and Idaho.
Appointments are conducted online through a secure telehealth platform.
How does an online appointment work?
After beginning the intake process, you receive instructions for completing forms and accessing the secure patient portal.
Your medical provider can meet with you by video, discuss symptoms and medical history, review laboratory results, and provide follow-up care remotely.
How long are appointments?
Appointment length varies based on the type of visit and the patient’s needs.
Initial evaluations generally require more time than routine follow-up appointments.
What laboratory tests do you perform?
The treating medical provider determines which laboratory tests are appropriate for each individual patient.
Testing depends on symptoms, health history, current medications, previous treatment, and the clinical question being evaluated.
Does a “normal” testosterone result mean nothing is wrong?
Not necessarily.
Laboratory results are only one part of an evaluation.
Symptoms such as fatigue, poor sleep, low libido, brain fog, mood changes, or changes in body composition can have many possible causes.
Your provider considers laboratory results alongside the rest of your clinical picture.
Is testosterone automatically prescribed if I have symptoms?
No.
Testosterone is prescription medical treatment and is only prescribed when a qualified provider determines that it is medically appropriate.
What does TRT cost?
Patients who have never previously had a testosterone prescription pay $750 for their first year of Hormone Balance Centers care.
Patients who are already receiving prescribed testosterone and transfer providers pay $400 per year.
Testosterone medication is purchased separately.
How much does testosterone medication cost?
The current price through Brighton Compounding Pharmacy is $80 for a 90-day supply.
Brighton Compounding Pharmacy is a separate business entity from Hormone Balance Centers.
Do I have to use Brighton Compounding Pharmacy?

Brighton Compounding Pharmacy is a separate pharmacy entity from Hormone Balance Centers.
Do you accept insurance?
Hormone Balance Centers operates primarily on a self-pay basis rather than billing health insurance directly.
Patients can ask the care team what documentation may be available for potential reimbursement through their insurance plan.
Can testosterone affect fertility?
Testosterone therapy can affect fertility.
Anyone who wants children now or may want children in the future should discuss this with their provider before beginning treatment.
Is TRT safe?
All prescription treatments have potential benefits, risks, side effects, and contraindications.
Whether TRT is appropriate depends on the individual patient.
Your medical provider can discuss your personal risk factors and monitoring requirements.
